What Do You Know About A Quality Blog Post?

In Te Ngahere we have been doing blogging. For blogging everyday our goal is to make a quality blog post for people to read and to make it more interesting as well. When blog posting you have to read the success criteria, it includes title, introduction, dlo, reflection, figure out where you got your picture and a question at the very end. Those are the six steps to be a successful person. Do you post for other people to teach or to get feedback?

What Do You Think About Mini Golf?

Over the past two weeks I have been playing some Mini Golf with my friends. It was really fantastic playing because I had to beat my friends. We had a challenge, who ever finished the obstacle would win $20. It was really challenging because we hit the ball so hard that it would fly out of the obstacle course. I hit two hole in one’s and my friends didn't get any. I tried my best to finish the course with the least points. Have you ever played anything related to golf before?

How To Create Music With Chrome Music Lab

Today we have been creating some music with Chrome Music Lab. It is a website where you can make a rhythm or just play around. We have been doing some rhythms and a melody before we even started to use the song maker. I made the Pirates Of The Caribbean with the music maker. It was pretty hard because you have to figure out how fast/slow it goes, what instruments they had used and how the chord progression goes. Have you ever created a rhythm with Chrome Music Lab?

Here is my song.

How To Create a Calendar Art

Today in Te Ngahere we have been doing art. We have been creating something called ‘Calendar Art’. It is really hard art because we have to follow the picture that is shaded out around 30%. It's a really fantastic art because you get to learn how to blend with colouring pencils. It is  really hard because when we draw the outline of the art it was really hard to see.

Have you done Calendar art before?

If you want to create one here is a google slide

Last Day For Wonder Project

Today was our last day to do Wonder Project activities. We had our last launch, all the groups were watching, including the little kids. We all had turns launching our rockets, the furthest was Thea, Pharell, Ondreaus and more. They went about 79.1m. The prizes were chocolates and lollipops. Our rocket only went 27.6m, our second final launch was really good because we beat their group by 5m. It went 66.6m. Have you ever launched a rocket further than 60m?

What Do You Like About PE?

Yesterday (Monday September 14) we had Ki O Rahi. It is a really fun game, if you don’t know what it is or you don’t know the rules, basically you have a ball and you go around avoiding the other team and touch the pool noodles. One touch means one point, if you are on the other team you have to stop the person from getting points. For the other team they have to pass the ball to their teammates that are close to them and they have to hit the bin in the middle to get points. I tried really hard to stop the team from getting points. Here is a google slide of the instructions if you want to play the game.

What Do You Know About Te Reo Maori?

This week we have been doing some Te Reo Maori. We have been learning to say the weather in Maori like rainbow, rain, sunshower, hurricane, tornado and more. We had to learn first before we could go off and make pairs with other people so test each other. After that, we finished learning the words in Maori. We then got to play a memory game. I tried my best to remember the cards it was  hard to remember where the cards were. Do you know what aniwaniwa means?

What Do You Know About Short Films?

Over the past few weeks we had a film festival coming up. The film festival is where you film something like a movie, but it only had to be 2 - 3 minutes long. I don’t know much about the film festival but every film students make from every school is pretty fresh. My group is now up to filming. It took us 15 tries to get it all correct because I forgot some lines. It was pretty hard getting our movie done because there was a lot of screaming from other people. Have you ever created a short film before?

Here is my google slide of what we had to include in the movie

Wonder Project I’m Lovin’ It!

Over the past few weeks we have been doing Wonder Project. Today is week 6 which means we get to build our rockets. We had to bring some 1.5 litre bottles so we could start building our rockets. We first had to watch a video that explains what we had to do. It went easy to hard because I had to put cardboard pieces with hot glue on the bottle which didn't make our rocket fly. Did you ever get to participate in the Wonder Project?

Here’s my wonder project

Sharing My Knowledge on Inferencing

This week we have been doing some inferencing. For example if the author says that the character is crying then they would write down ‘He had tears running down his face’ That is called inferencing because the author shows us but doesn't tell us. We also had conference groups before covid-19 had started again. We had to do nine questions, it went easy to hard. It was really hard when I started doing inferencing. Have you ever tried inferencing while you were reading?

Here is my Google Slide that has the inference texts.

How To Create A Short Film

This week we have been doing some filming. We first started off by watching some films that other people had created. We also watched a short film that our classmates did. After we were done watching we had to look at the success criteria to see what we needed to do in order to film. It was really easy because I created a film before. I felt like a director after I finished my script. I tried really hard to finish my movie planning. Have you ever created a short film before?

Here is the link to my planning:

Sharing My Knowledge on Wonder Project

This week we had some visitors called Gustavo and Troy. They came to our school to teach us about the Wonder Project. Wonder Project is something to make kids get excited in the future about rockets. When they got to our school they introduced themselves to us and told us what they do. Troy's job was awesome because he got to create some buildings and houses. Gustavo was doing science, they both work for the wonder project too. They said that they would come to our school again and do some activities for us. Have you ever done the wonder project?

Movie Making I’m Lovin’ it

Today in Te Ngahere we have been making movies for the Film Festival that was coming up soon. We were making a plan for our movie before we could start doing our filming. Our plan had to include a rocket launching. The title for my story is Alien Apocalypse. We had to get some ideas that didn't include a nuclear launching because we didn't have anything that looked like one. It was fun writing something related to a rocket launching. It was really easy getting ideas because I had already done some planning before writing. Have you ever written a story related to something to do with a rocket?

What Do You Think About Cross Country

Today in Te Ngahere our class has been practising for Cross Country. Cross Country is hard for some people because we had to run for a long time. We were only allowed to do Cross Country Practise at 1:45 but we couldn’t do it everyday. After it was time our teacher told us to stop what we were doing and told us that people who started with J-Z would be able to go outside. The practise was not the same as  last year because we had to run around our field. This year we had to do 30 seconds of each warmup. We had to do squat Jumps, mountain climbers, burpees, 10 high knees 2 press ups and a russian twist. It was hard doing the russian twist. After that we got to play some games, every game was chosen by our teacher. Have you ever been to Cross Country?

Narrative Writing I’m Lovin’ It

In Te Ngahere we got to do Narrative Writing. We had to choose a topic that was related to COVID-19. My title for my writing is “The Outbreak of Coronavirus”.  We had to do planning first before writing the story. We also had conference groups, they are really helpful for getting work done. I really enjoyed writing about something related to COVID-19. It was pretty hard at first but then I got some ideas and it went from hard to easy. Have you written a story related to Coronavirus recently?

Here is a link to my writing

Some Art I Absolutely Love

Over the past 3 weeks we have been doing Poupou Art. Poupou is a statue of a person who was really important. We first started by following the steps that were created for us. We used small paper for our practice, then we would follow the steps. After we finished our drawing we would go on a big piece to copy our drawing that we made. It was pretty hard at first because I never made a Poupou art before. What kind of poupou statue have you seen?

Sharing My Knowledge on Fractions

In Te Ngahere we have been doing Fractions. We had to learn about fractions first before we had to do a DLO (A Digital Learning Object is sharing something you have learnt). At first I found it really hard because I didn’t know what fractions were,  but since I  learnt how to how to understand  fractions, I know what the top and bottom numbers are. The top is the Numerator which tells us how many things there are and the bottom number which is the denominator tells us how many is there. Do you like learning about fractions?

Here is the DLO that I made to explain how I solved two questions: Digital Learning Object

The Trick Shot Challenge

In Te Ngahere we have been doing Trick shots. We had to make a trick shot course and try to make the ball go for more than 5 seconds. It didn’t matter if it went in the cup it only matters about how long it went for. Our group wanted to make a long course because they thought it was going to land in the cup. It was hard setting up the course because the books that we had setup kept falling from the people blowing. Do you think doing trick shots is easy?

Learning About New Shortcuts

Today in Te Ngahere we have been doing Cybersmart. We had to make a copy of a google slide our teacher made and we had to write down the key shortcuts that were on the google slide. We were also learning new stuff like the keyboard shortcuts we never knew. I really enjoyed making this because I learnt a lot of new stuff just like how to reset your zoom. I really hope you enjoyed reading my blogpost. Bye!

Turbo Touch

In Te Ngahere we have been doing Turbo Touch. Turbo Touch is just like rugby but it is different. You had to get in a group of 6 and when you dropped the ball it is a handover. We played a game and the first game we did was good because we won in like 15 seconds except the next game we lost in 15 seconds. It was really fun and I hope we got to do it again. We play every Tuesdays and sometimes on Thursdays. I hope you enjoyed reading my blog post. See you again!

Creative Necklaces At Technology

In Te Ngahere we went to Moerewa on the bus to make necklaces. When we got there we got to draw our designs in our book. We had to draw 3 boxes. We also had to tick the box if we liked the design. After that we got a small wooden thing and drew our design on it. We then asked the teacher if we could cut our wood thing out with a tool (which i don't remember) and then we had to chisel it so when we got up to making our metal necklaces it would be perfect. It was nearly time to go back to school so we had to clean up and pack the things back like the tools, gloves and the glasses that we used. I can't wait to make our necklaces when we get back. I hope you enjoyed reading my blog post. Bye!

Going To Technology For The First Time

Last week on Wednesday the year 7 and 8’s went to Moerewa school. It was our first time going to technology with the year 8’s I was really really excited. When we got there we met Mr Edward. We had to pass the book around and write our name down so  Mr Edward could know everyone in the workshop. After that we got to look around the workshop and got to know the rules. There were a lot of rules we had to know. The rules were no playing or running around because running around causes accidents. We also had to learn about the tools in the workshop and after that we also got to practice with the tools (With the teacher supervising us)
The favourite thing I enjoyed going to tech was going on the spinning thing.

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog post
