Thomas Kendall Animation

In Te Ngahere we have been doing animations about Thomas Kendall and refugees. Our animations were about the people who arrived to New Zealand. I made a Thomas Kendall animation and  it took a lot of slides to put in the characters and the sets. I had to do my animation by myself because my group had to do other stuff. It took me a lot of slides, i had a headache from doing it. It took me about 1 - 2 hours of fixing it, I had made a lot of mistakes so i had to go back and test what it would look like. After testing it I was proud of my animation. I had to find a house but i couldn’t find one. It took me about 5 minutes to find it. My animation had about 1000 - 1020 slides. I learnt that Thomas Kendall was from England and was Christian and he really liked to teach people about god. I hope you enjoyed my blog post!!

Disco Party!!

On Wednesday we had a disco at our school, some year 1 - 4’s had to go at 5:00 - 6:15. We had to pay $2 to get in the disco. When it was the year 5 - 8’s turn everyone was excited, there was so many kids running to the whare. There was nachos, american hot dogs, drinks and lollies. I had fun chasing my friends. When the song Old Time Road came on everyone started to sing, I started to sing as well. I bought nachos and got a face paint. There was also a Blacklight, when you get a facepaint and stand in front of a blacklight the paint will glow in the dark. There wasn’t any glow sticks or glow in the dark stuff you had to buy them from the $2 Store. There was so many songs from the 2013 - 2015. They played Gangnam Style and Silento (Watch me Nae Nae) So many people were playing limbo, hide n seek, dance battles and even tag. I got a face paint that was a koro, the colour was green. There was a disco ball and so many colourful lights. I wish we had a whole school party on the field and the whare it would be like a school party.

Scientific Method

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about the scientific method. The scientific method is what scientists do when they’re trying to find things out. We got to choose if we wanted to present it on canva, easl.ly or a google drawing. This is the order of the method: ask questions, research, test hypothesis, test it, test results and then present the conclusion. I think I did well explaining the order. I also learnt new stuff such as what a hypothesis is, a Hypothesis is a guess for example if someone is trying to ask you a question you guess the answer to see what it might be. Math DLO

In Te Ngahere we have been doing some decimals. Decimals are fractions of whole numbers and are separated with a dot, like 5.3 or 2.9. The teacher had to cut a sleeve that was a whole. We used the sleeve to help us solve 0.8 + 0.5. I got 13 blocks and then placed it in the sleeve. We already knew that the 10 was in the sleeve and the spares were on the top. We counted how much spares there were. Then we had to write the problem in our math books and then write the answer. We had a lot of problems to solve. After 5 minutes of working them out, we had to show the teacher before going to lunch. Thank you for reading my blog post. Bye.

The Author

On Thursday we had a author come to our school. Her name was Adell. There were two authors that came to our school. I didn't know the other authors name. The juniors went to our class and the rest of the seniors went to the whare. She told us a lots of stories when she was little. She told a story when her brother jumped out a window in class to get a cricket ball. Then teachers caught him, later on they saw a house with a long driveway and the curtains were closed. They thought it was the witch's house, because there were scary decorations around the house. They dared each other to touch the rusty garage door but no one was going to do it. The books that she wrote was true. There was a book that she wrote about milking a cow. It takes one year to publish a book. She visits a school three times a week. She told us if we did anything exciting we could write a book about it. She also talked about aliens, bigfoot and the mysterious dinosaur in the water. People believed that it was real but the person who took the photo made a wooden dinosaur and then took a picture to make it look real. She showed us the website where we could read the books. When she finished talking we took a photo with her.

Toku Whanau

In Te Ngahere we have been doing Toku Whanau. Toku Whanau is when you put your uncle, grandma, grandpa, siblings and your parents.
It was really good, I didn't put my uncles name because they didn't have a english name that I could put in my Toku Whanau.
I didn't know my grandpa or grandma’s name so i didn't put their name in.
I put my sisters name and my brothers name, the teachers had to check our Toku Whanau before we could write a script or record it.
I had a few mistakes on my Toku Whanau so I had to fix it. After I wrote my script I had to get a buddy that wasn’t my friend.
I had to get someone that was already finished their Toku Whanau.
We wrote our name on the whiteboard so the teachers know where we were doing our Toku Whanau.
It was really fun doing the Toku Whanau.

Bay Bush Action came to our school to teach us about the predators that eat our kiwi, like stoats, wild Cats, Possums and even weasels. They put traps far away from houses so no dogs or cats go in the traps. They also told us that if we ever play around with a trap it will snap your arm off. They told us that people bring pests from houses and from other countries. They told us that some rats aren’t from New Zealand  they came from Indonesia. People brang too many rabbits to the forest, some people in the helicopter had to shoot the rest of the rabbits because there was too many of them. After they finished talking we had to go back to class and do some Create. We got a choice to pick a Song, Rap, diary, Animation and even a play. I made a diary about a abandoned cat.

Day 1.

I’m with my family and everything is really comfy, I love playIng wIth the kids they always pet me and feed me and always make me warm. We always went to the playground to have some fun, I lIked beIng walked because stayIng home was boring. We always had yummy stuff together, I always loved my famIly. It was nearly night tIme so we had dinner, I had a HUGE! Fish for dInner It was really yum. I was waitIng for it while my famIly puts the bone away. After 10 minutes of eating I was almost full It was bedtime so I went to the lounge and started to close my eyes. I was not gettIng comfortable so I had to go sleep wIth the kids. After 30 mInutes of sleepIng I heard noIses I tried to ignore it because it was probably the rain I then went back to sleep.

Day 2.

I woke up and I banged my head on a box, I was really confused about why I was In a box. I open the box and I see darkness, I was really scared I hop out the box and everythIng felt weird. Later on I was really starving I went to explore to see If any food was around, Later I saw a fish I really wanted it but I had nothIng to cook it. I was gettIng really cold, I had no where to go. I cried for help but no one was around. I then trIed to look for some friends to play wIth but there was no one around. I had tears comIng down and I really missed my famIly. I was alone and bored wanted some love I wanted food. I try to go In my box but I already had muddy feets on my paws. I go to a river and push my box on the edge of the river and then try to dry my feets. I go to sleep but everythIng was really cold so I try to get a warm spot.

Day  3.

I wake up and everythIng was wet, I hop out of my box and then I sunk Into the mud, I try to get out and my face went on the to the rIver. I was all wet I try to dry myself but I was too weak. I was really hungry and thIrsty I go to drInk water from the rIver but It was really yucky I rolled over because I was really Itchy. I missed my famIly super bad!! I tried to go In the water but I dIdn't want to get wet. It was nearly tIme for bed I was really scared to move. I heard weird noIses I ran back to my box and It was soft and wet I tried to sleep but I was muddy

Day 4.

I woke up and my box was gone, I looked around to see where it was. I went to the river and my box was floating on the water. I sat down wIth tears comIng down, I smelt somethIng good so I went to go look for It. It was a fish that jumped out of the rIver, I really wanted to eat It because I was hungry the last 2 days. I lIcked the fIsh and It was yuck I trIed to rIp the skIn off and eat the meat raw. It was really yucky I went to go look for somethIng else. I saw a kIwI I sneakily walk to the kiwi and jump on the kIwI to eat It. It was REALLY yum I went to a river close by and drank agaIn. It was really yucky I went to go to sleep and It raIned I was really really cold. Tears came runnIng down my eyes lIke I was lookIng at onIon.

BE RIGHT EAT RIGHT

On Wednesday 27th we had a magician coming to our school. The entry was not free and it was 4$ per student. When it was nearly time (9:30) everyone was excited to see the magician. When everyone came in he started to put fire on a stick/pole and shaked it then the fire disappeared. We were learning about healthy food. He told us BE BRIGHT EAT RIGHT. The next magic trick was when he pulled up a volunteer and put clothes on them. He got out a paper and it turned into 1$ (American money). Then he put it in a see through briefcase and went back and forth then he spinned around and then the 1$ american money exploded! He placed the money into a cylinder box and shaked the box and then fruits came.

Our Idenity Project T1 W4

On Monday Whaea Kerry and Whaea Monika came to our school with their devices. We were learning to make Trees and Animals from our forest. We got to get into pairs when we came to their Treaty Grounds to tutu with the devices. We had to get turns of making trees. I made a fallen over tree and the other trees were different sizes. If the trees were the same then they would be used for christmas trees, and we wouldn't be able to breathe. After finishing the trees we went on paint 3d to make Animals and insects from the forest. I think me and my partner did a great job on making trees and animals and insects from our forest. We enjoyed making it even though it was our first time making trees and animals. I think i should get  better at making trees and kind of putting nests in trees because we will see nest hiding with eggs

Raranga Matahiko - Waitangi W4 T1

On Thursday and Friday we went on a trip to Waitangi Treaty Grounds. After we reached Waitangi Treaty Grounds we went into the learning center to play games. The first group had to be in pairs to go around the museum with a phone. We saw a waka called Ngatokimatawhaorua. The second group got to play games but they had to learn what to do before going on the devices. The games that we used was Virtual Reality, Stop Motion, Coding Robot, Paint 3D, Sculptgl, Green screen and Tinkercad .After 10 minutes the other group came back into the learning center then the group that went around the museum got to play on the devices but they had to learn what to do before they go on it. It was nearly time to go back to school, the next day Year 6’s got to go back to the Treaty grounds do do some Mahi Mahi Mahi (Work). .We were lucky to go The Treaty Grounds. After it was nearly time to go back, we got to make our own people on paint 3D so it can go on the waka.. It was the best day we ever had!

Action World FUN T4 W4

A few Weeks ago our class had been learning water safety. We learn lots of safety stuff, we learnt never swim alone, check the water to see if its deep and swim with adults. Don't swim with teens because they will get distracted. Bringing an adult and a teen is fine because they can look after you without leaving you. Grab a stick to see if the water is deep or not.
